Cancún Mexico

I had the time of my life (third time) at Club Med Cancún on another mother/daughter trip April 2026

My Mom and I took a red-eye flight from San Francisco, California (SFO) to Houston, Texas (IAH) and then from Houston, Texas (IAH) to Cancun, Mexico (CUN). We arrived in the late afternoon, having little to no rest and very little to eat and drink. We were very tired by the time we got to Club Med (have not slept for over 24 hours) but Erik and Daniel and Jade’s positive welcoming energy helped us feel at ease and rejuvenated our tired spirits.
Erik suggested we enjoy lunch (it was delicious and well appreciated after a long day of travel) and by then our room should be ready. The room was ready shortly after and it was our first time staying at Jade. (an exclusive part of Club Med resort). The room was spacious, clean, and had a pleasant view of the vegetation.
I wished all the rooms were ocean facing!
Two extremely strong and kind men carried our luggage to our room. Daniel shortly after gave us a tour of our room and Jade property.
He introduced us to the bartenders, chef, and lifeguard, creating a welcoming environment.

On the first night, at dinner, it was great to see some familiar faces from our trip back in April 2025 and May/June 2025.
Reception GOs, Alonso and Deivy checked in on us during daytime activities.
Lalo gave us a pleasant welcome back hand shake/hug. (so happy for him that he’s doing what he loves/enjoys- animation (lighting and sound guy- does an amazing job!)
Nelson gave us a hug, high five and encouragements.
We saw some of those GO’s mentioned above and met some new GO’s (Daniel, Jose Luis, William, Max, Julio, Paulo, Obed, Pablo, Sara)
while enjoying lunch and dinner meals.
It was so nice to talk to the GO’s and learn about their interests, talents, families/life and travel experiences.

Our stay at Jade was great!
It was a good experience.
We stayed at the section with a view of the garden (vegetation), although I wished for an ocean view, the view was still quite pleasant, relaxing, quiet and private.

In April 2025, we had a view of the lagoon and in May/June we had a view of the ocean.
Honestly nothing beats an ocean view.
However, Jade was an experience all of its own.
The service is high end. And the rooms are clean, airy, and bohemian chic.
Mini fridge is fully stocked with sodas and sparkling water, basket filled with snacks, a tea kettle and drip coffee maker, room service, turn down service including small square chocolates, and timely respectful housecleaning.
The bathroom is gorgeous and the bed is comfy and spacious and can be split to create two beds.

The housekeeping team was exceptional at restoring our room with great care, leaving enough towels, toilet paper, tissues, bottled waters, and removing all traces of sand that had been inadvertently trekked in. And doing so without displacing anything. Simply amazing!

I visited Club Med Cancun early April, Spring Break. The resort was pretty booked but didn’t feel overcrowded because of its thoughtful layout and countless activities for all ages.
I wished there were more art themed activities (arts and crafts) not geared towards little children but teens, young adults and adults. Such as tie-dying, water coloring, painting, bracelet making, ceramics. Club Med offers a lot of sports were you can bond with GO’s and other guests (GMs). It would be nice for some arts and craft activities too!

As someone with food allergies and aversions, I tend to do my research. The staff at La Hacienda (buffet style dining area) and Taco Arte (beach lounge restaurant) were amazing at preparing a variety of food, including allergy and plant based / vegan friendly openings—something for all guests of any age. Chef Irad was amazing at accommodating my food allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, and dairy) and also informed the other chefs working. Chef Irad prepared such delicious vegan burgers for my mom and also prepared a dairy free pepperoni pizza for me. (although I do wish there was vegan cheese and vegan ice cream options!)

Typically, one or two of the pastas were cooked with olive oil instead of butter. A large bowl of cheese was on the side as an option, making it allergy friendly and enjoyable for many. The different types of pastas were delicious.

I wish Club Med had dairy-free plant based cheese and offered a dairy-free and/or vegan pizza option. I also enjoyed the flatbread pizza, which consisted of bread, oil, oregano and salt, which they graciously prepared even on days when it wasn’t on the menu.

There were many food options for lunch and dinner, from simple foods like hamburgers, hot dogs or noodles to authentic Mexican food, seafood, countless meats and chicken dishes.
There were always staples like rice, beans and freshly grilled vegetables, and two tables filled with whole fruits and cut fruits. There were also tables filled with various breads and gluten free muffins.

For breakfast there was oatmeal, one pot made with milk and the other with water, making it allergy friendly. Also, dairy free overnight oats and a soy based pudding with garnishments galore. There were other options for breakfast such as, waffles, pancakes, French toast, crepes, bacon, sausages, eggs cooked in various ways, traditional Mexican breakfast options, a juice bar, a baby food station, a drink station and pastries galore. I loved the gluten free plain muffins.

The food presentation was very clean and aesthetically pleasing. I had no trouble finding allergy friendly food I enjoyed at Club Med Cancun. Thank you Chef Irad.

Chef Irad also made personal sized vegan desserts and ensured there was a variety of plant-based/vegan food options daily. Some included the fresh fruit, of course, along with salads and grilled and seasoned vegetables such as; greens, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower with this delicious spicy seasoning, and other vegetables. There were different types of yummy rices; such as tomato based, white, brown and wild rice. Different dishes with lentils, vegan meatballs, tofu and even quinoa.

In the future, besides the green lime sorbet, which I am not a fan, we were hoping for plant-based / vegan ice cream (soy, coconut or oat milk based).

The rest of the kitchen and serving/waiting staff were incredible, replenishing dishes and keeping the area clean and hygienic. Sweeping and cleaning up spills, wiping down counters and serving utensils. Keeping a safe and clean environment.

As soon as we sat at our table, the kind servers would take our drink orders. We usually got sparkling water (in Spanish, agua minérales.) My mom enjoys drinking warm water and the staff would always fill her huge Hydroflax thermos with utmost care. As we entered they would approach and say “Agua caliente y agua minerales” — they took time to observe guests and meet their needs.
Orlando and Leidi were simply amazing.
They had a positive attitude, nice smiles, and were fast at clearing away plates and drink glasses and noticing when we needed clean napkins or utensils.

The bartenders at the many locations around the village are also efficient and hard-working at keeping up with all those drink orders. Especially the bartenders at Jade. We are non-drinkers, but I certainly enjoyed drinking my weight in Shirley Temples and virgin Piña Coladas. The bartenders knew my drink order before I could ask. Jesus, at Jade, was amazing at making fancy Shirley Temples by adding a cherry and serving it in a nice glass. He was so attentive and cordial. He noticed when my drink was empty and would offer to bring me another poolside. He would come poolside to offer/deliver fresh chips and salsa. He always had a kind smile on his face and helped us countless times open and move the pool umbrellas.
Sylvia did an amazing job at keeping the bar area at Jade clean and she had a kind demeanor.
Jorge and Alberto, chefs at Jade, were such great chefs, preparing clean healthy tasteful meals.
Making a vegan version for my mom and an allergy friendly (dairy free) version for me.
I so enjoyed the crepes by the poolside and the Japanese stir fry bowl with the sea breeze blowing in my hair.
Daniel, Eliseo, Erasmo, Ademir, and Jaime were also amazing bartenders. Remembering our names and drink orders. Always greeting us with a smile at any times of the day. Helping us move the beach chairs and umbrellas to catch the shade. One of them even called me over up from my beach chair to the ocean side to catch a glimpse of a rare parrot fish swimming close to shore, as they knew I was excited about snorkeling to see the fish.
Edwardo, the lifeguard at Jade, was very kind and helpful. He helped my mom and I move around the heavy umbrellas and angle the beach chairs away from the sun. He also helped remove a splinter from my foot, joking that he is a “doctora”, making me smile and laugh.
He taught me about the wind patterns and different fish that are native to the waters.

There were plenty of activities to participate in during the day and different shows every night.
Some activities that I enjoyed were:
paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, water slide, swimming in the ocean and pool, aquagym, yoga and archery. Most of all, I really enjoyed the Foam Party at the main beach and wish it took place every day! (Thursdays are not enough for that fun activity!)

Guests are transported, via gulf cart shuttles, to and from the various activities around the village and the drivers were so kind, caring, funny, and informative, always putting a smile on my face.

The evening entertainment and shows were amazing!
Some of my very favorite mini club shows (for families) were The Princesa show and Cancunamatata show.
The lady that choreographs the shows, Sandy, is an amazingly talented Beyoncé level dancer.
She is incredible and dancing and acting and performing and she brought the show to life!
Lalo, the guy in charge of the lights and sounds and animation, did an incredible job and really created a fun welcoming environment!
My all time favorite show was the music factory show! The GO’s put on the show and it was so wonderful to witness their talent and connect with them more the next day. It was simply an amazing show, captivating me from beginning to end! I really enjoy when the GOs put on the show and not the outside entertainment services because the GOs bring a different vibe—a more organic, fun, exciting, astonishing vibe. Makes it more homey and loving. It is nice to converse with them about their performances and watch their talents and art shine during the evening.

I loved participating in the evening dancing. The GOs did a great job encouraging guests out of their seats and onto the dance floor. Lalo also managed the lights for all the shows with great care. I loved doing Crazy Signs!

The main pool and aquamarine pool and Jade Pool were so clean. Every morning and throughout the day, staff would clean the pool environment. Making sure there is no sand or excess water, which can make the area slippery, or leafs and bugs in or around the pool area.

The beach by water sports and beach by Taco Arte and Jade were also very clean. (did a great job cleanin/managing sea weed from that area).
The water, clear turquoise blue and the sand so white! I enjoyed swimming in the ocean and felt safe doing so as there were lifeguards and beach security patrolling the area.

I was a bit bummed out to see the huge amount of seaweed that overtook the main beach, making the turquoise water unseeable, as it was covered with thick brown smelly seaweed.
I appreciate the resorts effort in controlling the seaweed but hiring people to scoop/haul mounds of seaweed away using tractors, however the seaweed was quite invasive and expanse.
I am hoping Club Med can come up with a better solution to their seaweed invasion problem.
Perhaps a net out at sea to catch all that seaweed before it reaches shore to no avail.
I hope to be able to swim in the beautiful turquoise water of the main beach next time!

The water slides were incredibly fun!
There’s a small water play area for kids under ten and waterslides for those I believe 8 and older. The yellow slides go slow, light green is a tunnel slide and dark green goes super fast.
Making it enjoyable for different comfort levels.
The waterpark is patrolled by many lifeguards, creating a safe welcoming experience and feel.
Miriam, a female life guard, was very kind and nice. I enjoyed practicing my Spanish with her. We had a lovely conversation about sea-shells and swimming.

Club Med has a kids cub and teens club with age appropriate activities and caring, kind GOs. The GOs are incredible at bringing energy, rhythm and joy to the various activities for the enjoyment of the guests.

I remembered most of the GOs from my time at Club Med Cancun back in April and May 2025 and they remembered me.

Nelson is amazing and so incredible at the various activities he leads. I wish he could teach Aquagym still. His energy is contagious. He brings relentless energy, passion and creativity to the classed he teaches in French and English. His energy is unmatchable!

My Mom enjoyed taking yoga classes throughout the day taught by Magali. She was incredibly gifted at teaching yoga and breath-work. Making beginners and experienced practitioners feel welcome and at ease. It was also nice to see her at dinner and performing in the shows out on by the GO’s. She’s an amazing dancer!

I love Club Med Cancun because I felt encouraged by the GOs, not judged. They welcomed me with kind smiles and words of encouragement. Always checking in to see how I am doing, feeling and if I am having fun.

Max, who is kind hearted, focused and knowledgeable, went above and beyond, to take me and my mom on a private sailing lesson. My mom did not feel comfortable sailing this trip and Max so graciously offered to teach us how to sail and took us on a sailing excursion.
He pulled up the sail boat close to the shore so we could get on comfortably, then we set sail. I learned so much from observing many traits, not just his obvious sailing skills, but his kindness and generosity of spirit and time. I had so much fun sailing! Max, thank you for your kindness and generosity of time and spirit.

Besides Max, the other watersports GOs were so kind, caring, patient and good at their job.
William, Julio, Paulo, Obed, Pablo, and Sara.
They always greeted me and my mom with smiles, hugs and high fives.
They would always help fit me with the correct life jacket and untie the kayak or paddle board and give me a push to start. I am a bit weary of the fish and Obed and Max would splish and splash the water and shoo them out of the way. They also pointed out the big rocks to watch out for. All of them would also help hold the kayak as I sat inside. The watersports team went above and beyond to make sure I felt safe and had fun while out on the water whether I was sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, or snorkeling. Which reminds me, Max was so patient as I went snorkeling, answering all my questions and putting some of my worries to ease about sharks and sting rays and getting washed out to sea.

Eric and Rachid did a great job at capturing memorable pictures and recalled us from last time.

Our Cancun adventure sadly came to an end. The bellboys once again were very helpful at helping us with our luggage. And so were Jade, Daniel and Erik (who all bid us farewell)

Checking out was bittersweet. It was so sad (muyo triste) to say goodbye, especially Alonso, Jade, Daniel, and Erik who went out of their way to come for our final farewell. They waved goodbye until the taxi pulled out of view.

I can’t wait to go back. Hopefully, with more members of my family. And who knows, maybe next time I will be brave enough to go scuba diving or take part in one of the many excursions offered at Club Med Cancún.

I cannot say enough good things. The resort was fun and perfect for kids. Lots of options for food and activities. We unfortunately had a medical emergency (not resort related) and the quality of care and accommodation and help was incredible. They took care of the kids and made sure everything was as stress free as possible. They were kind and supportive and made it the best experience it could have been. Special shout out to kids and baby club. My kids had the time of their lives. Karla and Mirka did amazing with our baby and Ivan, Sammy, Pierre, Sender, Lea, and the two other women in the kids club (sorry I can’t remember all the names) went above and beyond in making sure my kids had fun and were safe. They were begging to go back every day and so sad we had to leave. We can’t wait to go back to club med!
Only slight negative personally is the beds are very firm, and that’s not my preference, but everything else was incredible!

Two days before our check-in, construction started at the hotel and part of the property became unavailable. Most importantly, only one swimming pool was open, which made it extremely crowded. There was also significant seaweed in the sea, so naturally most guests preferred using the pool, making the situation even worse. Unfortunately, the main pool was under construction.

I strongly believe this should have been communicated to guests at the time of booking. At the very least, we would have known what to expect, or possibly chosen a different hotel.

I raised these concerns with the staff and requested either compensation or the option for early cancellation, but none of my requests were taken seriously. No proper communication or apology was provided regarding the situation.

Unfortunately, this resulted in a very negative overall experience for us.

We went to club med Cancun as a group of 6 families (24 total). We could not have been more happy with our stay, particularly because our young kids (6 and under) had a great time in the super friendly and fun kids club, which then allowed the parents to relax, and even learn sailing! We would love to be back some day.
